Whole-body MRI – What soes the VisioSupreme™ examination Include?
When you are looking for a whole-body MRI scan, VisioSupreme™ provides imaging of the torso as well as MRI scans of the brain, cerebral blood vessels, spine and spinal cord. Our most popular whole-body MRI package also includes a report from a specialist radiologist and a telephone consultation with a specialist in general medicine, during which the results are explained to you in clear and understandable terms.
VisioSupreme™ is worth considering when you want a more comprehensive examination than our basic packages but do not need the imaging of the arteries in the lower limbs included in the Visio Supreme Gold package. What is included in the VisioSupreme™ package?
VisioSupreme™ combines three extensive imaging areas into a single examination:
- MRI of the torso
- MRI of the brain and cerebral blood vessels
- MRI of the spine and spinal cord
The torso MRI covers the neck and cervical lymph nodes, thyroid and salivary glands, chest, thoracic aorta and mediastinum. In the abdominal area, the scan includes the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, adrenal glands and abdominal aorta, among other structures.
In the pelvic area, the examination includes either the uterus and ovaries or the prostate, depending on the patient’s anatomy. The scan also covers the pelvic blood vessels and bones within the imaging area. Imaging of the brain and cerebral blood vessels as well as the entire spine and spinal cord makes the examination more comprehensive than the Visio and Visio+ packages.
All our MRI examinations always include a report from a specialist radiologist. The VisioSupreme™ package also includes a telephone consultation with a specialist in general medicine, during which we go through the results with you in clear and understandable terms.
How does VisioSupreme™ differ from the other packages?
The most suitable examination package depends primarily on which areas of your body you would like to have scanned. VisioSupreme™ sits between the Visio+ package and our most comprehensive Supreme Gold package

If you would like your brain and cerebral blood vessels to be scanned in addition to your torso but do not require imaging of the spine, Visio+ may be sufficient. VisioSupreme™ adds MRI imaging of the spine and spinal cord. Supreme Gold additionally includes lower-limb MR angiography, which examines the arteries of the lower limbs using magnetic resonance imaging.
VisioSupreme™ is therefore particularly suitable when you want an extensive and comprehensive examination without separate imaging of the arteries in the lower limbs. If you are unsure which package offers the right scope for your needs, we are happy to help you compare the options.
A radiation-free and painless examination
MRI is a radiation-free imaging method, meaning that it does not use X-rays. The examination is also painless. During the scan, you lie on the examination table and remain as still as possible to ensure that the images are suitable for diagnostic interpretation.
We use modern imaging technology in our MRI examinations. Our imaging protocols utilise AI-assisted image enhancement, scan acceleration and noise reduction. At Visio Magneettikuvaus, the medical interpretation of the images and the radiology report are always provided by an experienced specialist radiologist.
However, a whole-body MRI does not mean a detailed examination of every individual part of the body. The package does not include individual joints such as the knee, shoulder or ankle. If necessary, a joint of your choice can be scanned as a separate examination during the same visit.
What happens during a VisioSupreme™ examination?
The examination process consists of booking an appointment, providing your medical information, undergoing the MRI scan and receiving your results:
- Book an appointment online or contact us. Before booking, you can ask us which package best meets your needs.
- Complete the medical history form. You can fill in the form in advance or at our clinic before the examination.
- Prepare for the examination according to the instructions provided. You should not eat for four hours before a whole-body MRI examination.
- Come to our clinic at Iso Omena Shopping Centre in Espoo. Depending on the package, whole-body MRI examinations take approximately 50–120 minutes.
- A specialist radiologist interprets the images. A radiology report and summary are prepared based on the examination.
- The results are discussed with you by telephone. The telephone consultation with a specialist in general medicine included in the VisioSupreme™ package helps you understand the contents of the radiology report and, when necessary, ensures that appropriate referrals for further examinations or treatment are arranged.
Your suitability for an MRI examination is confirmed beforehand based on your medical history. We do not perform MRI examinations on patients with a pacemaker. Please also inform us of any other medical devices or metal objects in your body so that we can assess your suitability for MRI before you book an appointment.
When should you choose VisioSupreme™?
VisioSupreme™ may be a suitable option for you if you would like a single examination to include:
- MRI of the brain and cerebral blood vessels in addition to the torso
- MRI of the spine and spinal cord
- a report from a specialist radiologist
- a telephone consultation with a specialist in general medicine to discuss your results.
A more limited package may be more appropriate if you do not need all the imaging areas included in VisioSupreme™. If you would also like imaging of the arteries in the lower limbs, consider the Visio Supreme Gold package.
An MRI examination provides information about the structures and possible findings within the areas being scanned. However, the examination alone does not replace a comprehensive medical assessment by a doctor, nor does it guarantee that all diseases or their early stages will be detected. The results are always evaluated in relation to your symptoms, medical history and the possible need for further examinations.
