Whole-body MRI scan

A Visio scan takes about 45 minutes

Visio+ takes 70 minutes

VisioSupreme takes about 90 minutes

Whole-body MRI is used to study the structures of the human body, so it is not possible to examine subjects for metabolic diseases (diabetes, hypothyroidism) with imaging alone. The same is true for cardiac arrhythmias, coronary artery disease or heart defects.

The price of a whole-body MRI scan always includes a telephone appointment with a general medical specialist to discuss the results and any findings and their significance.

It is advisable not to eat anything for 6 hours before the scan. Small amounts of liquid, such as juice, may be taken before the scan. Take your regular medicines normally before the examination. Due to the strong magnetic field present in the imaging room, remove all clothing containing metal before entering the room.

Also remove any magnetic eyelashes, jewellery and piercings. If you need any additional instructions, do not hesitate to contact us. Our friendly staff will be happy to assist.

Yes. The additional charge for a specific area scanned in connection with the whole-body scan is €279 per area (knee, ankle, shoulder, hips, lumbar vertebrae, wrist or cervical vertebrae).

A whole-body MRI scan help detect asymptomatic, low-symptom and latent diseases such as cancers, as well as changes and anomalies in the body that might otherwise go undetected. For example, the earlier a cancerous tumour is found, the better the chances of it being treated and cured.

Whole-body MRI can also be seen as a sort of scan-based check of your general state of health.
If you are concerned about your health, or if you have a higher-than-average incidence of cancer in your immediate or extended family, a whole-body MRI scan may be advisable.

A low percentage of whole-body MRI scans also show findings and anomalies that require closer examination or a follow-up, but not necessarily any intervention or treatment.

A whole-body MRI consists of a series of scans targeting several specific areas to create a comprehensive survey of the entire body. The scan makes it possible to detect changes in the body, such as cancers, inflammations or other anomalies, even before symptoms appear.

A whole-body MRI is always preceded by an initial interview and review of a pre-completed health information form together with our staff.
In about one week after the scan, a specialist in general practice will go over the results with you over the phone. When necessary, the specialists will give advice for further treatment if the scans show findings that require a follow-up, further examination or treatment. A 20-minute telephone consultation with a general practitioner is included in the price of the MRI scan.

A whole-body MRI scan provides images of the neck and its soft tissues, salivary glands, thyroid gland, lymph nodes, chest, ribs, sternum, armpits, liver, spleen, pancreas, kidneys, adrenal glands, abdomen, bile ducts, gall bladder, abdominal aorta, prostate gland (men), pelvic region, and gynaecological structures (women).

The Visio+ whole-body MRI scan also includes the brain and brain blood vessels.

However, whole-body magnetic resonance imaging is not intended to replace conventional health examinations, tests, and/or screenings, but rather to complement them in a preventive sense.

We always recommend continuing with other regular health checks and following the advice of healthcare professionals.

Visio Supreme Gold is currently the most comprehensive full-body MRI system on the Finnish market, combining the accuracy of the VisioSupreme ™ imaging package with lower limb MRI angiography, which also includes the lower limb arteries and their assessment to detect possible lower limb arterial occlusions.

Magnetic resonance imaging of the arteries in the lower extremities using a contrast agent is a good and reliable examination for imaging the arterial system in the lower extremities when narrowing or blockages are suspected.

After the examination, Visio Magneettikuvaus’ radiology specialists will prepare radiological reports and summaries of the results. In addition to the radiologist’s report, the Visio+ and Visio Supreme™ and Visio Supreme Gold packages include a telephone consultation with our general practitioner, who will go through the results and their significance with you.

In the case of findings that are significant for your health or pose a threat to your health, we will always refer you for further examination if necessary.

The most affordable full-body MRI scan is the Visio full-body MRI scan, which is also the most affordable full-body MRI scan on the market in Finland.

The cheapest full-body MRI scan costs €698.

This depends on many factors, such as possible findings in the scan, age, health history, and family history.

The most commonly recommended scan interval among experts in the field is 12–24 months, depending on the factors mentioned above.

Based on MRI statistics, approximately one in five (1/5) patients undergoes a full-body MRI scan that reveals findings that are significant or threatening to their health. These may include, for example, cancerous tumors, cerebral aneurysms, or other serious changes detected in the scan. Early-stage findings enable early response and better treatment outcomes.

Full-body scanning is still a new form of examination in Finland, but it is already standard practice in Europe.

MRI is ideal for diagnosing diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system including joints, bones, muscles and tendons, and the spinal column (cervical, thoracic and lumbar vertebrae).

Additionally, MRI is suitable for examining the central nervous system, brain and spinal cord and for scanning brain blood vessels. An MRI scan of the head reveals intracranial structures with great clarity.

MRI is also used to examine the abdominal organs and their diseases, as well as the prostate, uterus and ovaries.

Magnetic resonance imaging is completely safe. No harmful radiation is used, as in X-ray and computer tomography imaging.

Yes, and for example, a full-body MRI scan can detect early signs of cancer even before clinical symptoms appear. MRI scans can identify structural changes in cancerous tumors and areas of abnormal blood flow, for example. Early detection almost always improves the chances of successful cancer treatment.

In magnetic imaging, we strive to obtain the most accurate and high-quality image series possible for diagnostic purposes, and we also capture more image series from different angles than other operators. For example, we make extensive use of diffusion image series, which are the best way to detect even the smallest changes in the body.

Yes, cancer is usually clearly visible on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), as it accurately reveals structural and functional abnormalities in tissues without the use of radiation. MRI is particularly well suited for detecting cancerous tumors in soft tissues, such as the liver, pancreas, breasts, brain, and pelvic area. Tumors in the bones and spine are also easily visible on magnetic resonance images.
