Who is magnetic resonance imaging of cerebral arteries suitable for?
- People with a hereditary risk of cerebrovascular disease
- People who experience recurrent exertional, straining, or other headaches, visual disturbances, or other symptoms related to cerebral arteries
- People whose first-degree relatives have been diagnosed with cerebral aneurysms – in such cases, timely screening is particularly important.

If an aneurysm is found in an MRA examination and surgical treatment is not yet considered necessary, regular check-ups are essential to monitor the bulge and manage any potential risks.
Bleeding under the arachnoid membrane from a cerebral aneurysm (subarachnoid hemorrhage, SAH) is often fatal. Even though intensive care has improved, the mortality rate for SAH can still be as high as 40%.
